Zero Deaths in Indian Railways in 2019
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on December 25, in a Tweet informed that for the first time in 166 years Indian passengers have been the safest. This means that between 2019-2020, according to statistics no passenger deaths have been reported. 2019-2020 has been reported as the safest year with no fatalties. Similarly in April it was found that between 2018-2019, no deaths were reported. The Indian railway departments reported 59 accidents without any deaths. A report by the Financial Express has said that, train collisions, fire in trains, derailment, track crossing accidents and other such accidents and not deaths, between 1980-81 were 1130. Whereas in 2018, the number of accidents were only 59. It is such a drastic fall. It has reduced by 94.8%. The Interim Budget of 2019 allocated the railways a budget of ₹1,58,658 crore. Last yeat they had received ₹1,48,528 crore. This year they recieved a lot more. Minister Piyush Goyal has said that he aims for the Indian Railways to be the safest in the world.
